Roy I. Wilcoxon, 89 of Gifford, formerly of Urbana, died at 10:07 a.m. Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Roy was born January 23, 1930 in Newman, the son of Lemuel and Eva (Nickolson) Wilcoxon. He married Charlotte B. Walling on September 21, 1947 in Tuscola and she preceded him in death on September 19, 2011. He is survived by sons, Roy P. Wilcoxon of Urbana and Richard I. Wilcoxon of Urbana, nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife and a daughter, Sharon Kay Collins.
Roy was a member of Operators Local #841 and was a heavy equipment operator for 51 years. His work included Vern Scott Drainage, working with longtime friend, Tom Bridwell and ending his career retiring from A & R Services. Roy’s family was his prized treasure and he proved it everyday in his example as a husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed dearly by his family but we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife of 65 years, Charlotte whom he has missed every day since she departed this earth. At the time of Roy’s departure they would have been married 71 years.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday May 24 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Pastor Jon Callahan will officiate. Condolences may be offered at www.renner-wikoffchapel.com
