Lucy Schoonover Obituary

SAVOY, IL-  Lucy Mae(King) Schoonover, 74, of Savoy, IL, passed away at 11:55 PM, Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at C-U Nursing and Rehab in Savoy.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL, with burial to follow at Bailey Cemetery, Tolono, IL.  There will be a visitation Friday evening(April 19) at the funeral home from 6-8 PM.

 

Lucy was born January 24, 1945 in Melrose, IL, a daughter of Walter and Edna(McDaniel) King.  She married Robert Lee Schoonover on February 18, 1967.  He preceded her in death in August 2002.

Survivors include four daughters, Diana(John) Brown of Starkville, MS, Barbara(Robert) Dawkins of Urbana, LoRetta(Robert)Burkholder of Champaign and Amanda(Michael) Reed of Starkville, MS; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Nancy(Ed) Wisehart of Homer, IL, Sandy(Tony) Gentry of Villa Grove, IL, and Judy(Mike) Rothermel of Camargo, IL and two brothers, Grover(Eileen) King of Melrose, IL and James(Dawn) King of Champaign.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, a grandchild, one sister and three brothers.

 

Lucy graduated from high school in Martinsville, IL.  She went to nursing school and got her license for Practical Nursing in Mattoon, IL.  Lucy worked full time as an LPN for nearly 40 years.  Lucy enjoyed mushroom hunting in her younger years,  and long car rides in the country.  She loved to read books, put puzzles together and work puzzle books.
