James Wyatt, Sr. Obituary

James H. Wyatt, Sr, 83 of Urbana died at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday April 9, 2019 at OSF Medical Center, Urbana.

James was born October 11, 1935 in Champaign, the son of Cleo James and Dorothy Helen (Stevens) Wyatt.  He married Delores Carlyle on December 15, 1979 in Urbana and she preceded him in death on November 9, 1998.  He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Lowther.

He is survived by a daughter, Theresa Wyatt of Bellingham, WA and a son James Wyatt, Jr. of Prescott, AZ, a step-daughter Marla Becker of Homer and step-son Dennis Connour of Urbana.  Grandchildren, Colton Lowther, Nikki Miethe, Zach Becker and a great grandson, Grant Miethe.

“Big Jim” loved our country and was proud to have served in the US Air Force and in the construction of Arizona’s Glen Canyon Dam. He also enjoyed driving semi-trucks over the road for many years, later retiring from the University of Illinois as a custodian. Jim was a great story teller who loved spreading good cheer and was passionate about sports, especially fishing. He gave thanks to God for having a wonderful life and family. He was a big man with an even bigger heart that always left loved ones with his familiar blessing, “Y’all take care and may the good Lord keep a watchin’ over you!”  He will be greatly missed.

Private family services will be held.  Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Light Hospice.  Condolences may be offered at renner-wikoffchapel.com
